Driving Investment and Tourism: MoU Signing for the Padang Sarai Integrated Tourism Area

On June 11, 2026, the Padang City Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the regional investment climate through the planned development of the Padang Sarai Integrated Tourism Area, located in Koto Tangah District. This strategic project is expected to become a new economic growth driver, enhancing Padang City’s competitiveness as a leading destination for investment and tourism in West Sumatra.
This commitment was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for investment cooperation and the development of the integrated tourism area, witnessed directly by Padang Mayor Fadly Amran, Mr at the White Hall of the Mayor’s Official Residence. The signing represents an important first step in fostering collaboration between the government, investors, and other stakeholders to realize a modern and highly competitive tourism destination.
In his remarks, Mayor Fadly Amran, Mr emphasized that the Padang City Government is fully committed to creating a favorable investment environment by providing streamlined licensing procedures in accordance with applicable regulations. He stated that investment plays a vital role in driving regional economic growth by creating employment opportunities, increasing community income, and strengthening the city’s Locally Generated Revenue (PAD – Pendapatan Asli Daerah). He also explained that the Padang Sarai Integrated Tourism Area will feature a modern and comprehensive concept with large-scale facilities designed to support the tourism, recreation, and business sectors.
The Padang Sarai Integrated Tourism Area is envisioned not only as a premier tourist destination but also as a new center of economic activity that will stimulate growth in the service, trade, and local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sectors. During the event, Anwar Susanto, Mr was also present to express his support for the MoU signing, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing the development of the project for the benefit of the wider community.
Through strong synergy among the local government, investors, and landowners, the Padang Sarai Integrated Tourism Area is expected to strengthen Padang City’s position as one of the leading tourism and investment hubs in West Sumatra. Furthermore, this large-scale investment is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for regional economic transformation, promoting more inclusive and sustainable growth while delivering tangible improvements to the welfare and prosperity of the community.
